When The Daily Guru announced The Self Love Series Event was happening in Melbourne I was over the moon.
A dedicated self-love event was the perfect opportunity to spend the day learning, reflecting and immersing myself in this expansive topic. It was also a great chance to have some me-time which as a mum and an entrepreneur is an absolute luxury!
In addition to four fantastic Melbourne-based presenters, the event also featured Self Love Markets with a gorgeous selection of items from sellers Lux400, Home by Danscapes, Dream Catchers, It’s Time for Me, Violet & The Villain and Macramé Muse. The VIPs were also treated to a goodie bag containing a Combardis Elixrs Highest Potential Aromatic Mist and an organic Self-Love tea and cacao blend sampler from Little Alchemy.
The four speakers; Steph Demetrious, Sara Booke, Amelia Williams and Julie Parker shared their thoughts on self-love with warmth, humour and candour. There were many references to the benefits of meditation and journaling and while it’s impossible to capture all the pearls of wisdom shared by these talented women, here are a few highlights from the day.
Steph, our first speaker spoke about kinesiology and introduced us to a kinesiology muscle test exercise which was a fascinating experience.
Next up, Sarah spoke about presence and feelings-based decision making. She also guided us through several meditations and talked about clearing repressing blocks and connecting with inner guidance. This Buddhist quote Sarah shared summed it up beautifully:
All is burnt in the flame of presence.
The second half of the program kicked off with Amelia who spoke about vulnerability, the importance of changing behaviour to focus on what’s true and taking action to move forward. Amelia gave us a 10 minute journaling exercise to hone in on how we were feeling. It was a potent reminder to dive in and implement what you’ve learned and explore what you’re feeling in the moment. Finally, Julie began her presentation with a bold question that went straight to the heart of everyone:
What light’s you up?
With a reminder that when it comes to your life to not leave things to chance, Julie took us on a journey through desire, love, life, heart and purpose. All topics so close to my heart because these are the things we need to think about with our own life.
What is your life’s work?
What is your life about?
Both excellent, thought-provoking big-picture questions.
The path is self-love, having a go and not leaving things undone. All equally important as Julie’s message of following your pathway and owning it. This presentation was inspiring and brilliant. Julie’s passion, enthusiasm and her natural gift for presenting was an absolutely beautiful way to wrap up the event.
Big thanks to Bec Caines and The Daily Guru team for a fabulous day. I enjoyed reading back through my notes, reflecting and now implementing everything I learned.
